If you don't already recognize this diva from JA RULE'S Between Me and You video, you'd better get to know her now. CHRISTINA MILIAN is Island Def Jam's answer to Mya and her new single, "AM to PM," is all over MTV. A singer and songwriter, Christina penned all of the tracks off her debut album and has written for the likes of JENNIFER LOPEZ and JESSICA SIMPSON.

She sings. She dances. She writes. And, she's a student, too! Though she's often on the road or in the studio, being educated is of major importance to the songstress.

What were your high school years like?
Christina: Most of my high school years were spent in home studies. Because I was so involved in the entertainment business, I wanted to finish school a bit earlier. I did all of my schooling throughout the summers and vacations so that I could finish. Though, I did spend my junior year at a performing arts school.

What was being home-schooled like?
Christina: There was this place that you could go to take home studies or get tutored. It was part of the school district. I was acting all the time so it was hard. Home schooling worked out better because, when I did attend [regular] school, I'd miss out on tests and finals.

Do you feel like you missed out on the social aspect of things as well?
Christina: I don't. I had a lot more fun when I was orking. That was my main focus. I still had fun with the actors and I still hung out with my friends who were in high school and stuff. I didn't get to go to prom, but one year I did get to go to the winter formal.

Is college in your future?
Christina: I did go to college for a little while, but I became really busy with music. I went half the semester and the other half I got too busy. In the future, I would love to go to college. There are a lot of things I want to do in the future other than being a recording artist or actress. I would love to direct some films, write, own a couple businesses, and own a record label. I'd love to take some business classes.

How important is college in terms of success?
Christina: I think it's important because you never know what you may want to do in the future. You could change your mind and decide you want to be a lawyer. It could be after you're retired. Even when I was going to college, there were older people in the classes.

What is your definition of success?
Christina: My definition of success would definitely be happiness. If you're happy in your life with what you're doing and your family, then that's success. It's all about being happy with yourself.

I understand that Ludacris did a cameo for your album. Why isn't it actually on the album?
Christina: Unfortunately, the lyrics were a little bit explicit. Everything represents me -- whether it's myself singing or another artist singing or rapping on my album, it's going to represent and reflect me. His lyrics were a little bit dirty so we couldn't use them, but he's still my boy. It was my decision, my record label's, and my mom's.

How important is the role model gig to you?
Christina: I know a lot of artists don't like that title of "role model," but when you're in the spotlight people are going to look up to you. I have two younger sisters and they look up to me for sure. Whatever I say, it reflects them and I feel that I want to respect myself.
